<p>As an exercise guru once stated, &#8220;Everyone&#8217;s got Ab&#8217;s you jus&#8217; need to show em&#8221;.  From the frantic efforts in gyms and obsessions with the so elusive six pack, it seems many never quite got what he meant.</p>
<p>The most noticeable part of a fat person is quite often the stomach but its disadvantage is much more than cosmetic. And apart from being concerned about the loss of aesthetics, it is also reasonable to get concerned of a fat midsection</p>
<p>A fat abdomen not only results to larger pant sizes, it is also a serious health issue.  It points to your state of degenerating health.  Accumulation of body fat mainly around your midsection (commonly referred to as apple shaped, as opposed to pear shaped that has fat around hips, buttocks and thighs) is more dangerous than any other fat distribution. It is associated with increased risk of heart disease, Type II diabetes and other diseases that often accompany obesity.</p>
<p>However the notion that you can lose fat specifically from the stomach area only is unfounded. Spot weight reduction is really a myth.  You just cannot loss weight from one specific area of the body.  A good example of how one loses body fat is given by the fat-loss expert and body builders, Tom Venuto.</p>
<p>He explains losing fat is like empting a swimming pool.  The last part of the pool to get covered by water when filling it up will be the first part of the pool to show up when emptying it.  On the contrary the first part of the pool, the deep end, which fills up first, will be the last place to empty.</p>
<p>Another example would be the loading of a truck container with sacks of potatoes. The first sacks to go into the container will be at the furthest end. The last sacks would be closest to the door. On unloading the first sacks to be loaded will be the first to be unloaded while the first to be loaded will be the last to be unloaded.</p>
<p>Similarly in losing weight the last place you deposited fat will be the first place you lose in.  And the first place you deposited fat will be the last place to lose it.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, for most of us, the first place we deposit fat is in the abdominal area.  This is particularly so for men.  Women tend to have first deposits in thighs and hip area also.  This distribution of body fat then translates to mean that abdominal fat is usually the last body fat to be lost.</p>
<p>Though this is roughly the way the body distributes fat, obviously it is not as simple. Your body does not store fat at the abdomen and say, Ahha! That&#8217;s full, lets&#8217; start depositing in the under arms. But on the other hand, it doesn&#8217;t necessarily distribute body fat equally around the body. Depending on your genetics the body will deposit fat in different parts and at different rates. Often some part will have more deposits than others. However you will rarely see a fat person who does not have a large abdomen.</p>
<p>To see your abdominal muscles you will need to cut down on your total body fat.  More crunches will just not do it.  Yes the crunches do develop the muscles, unfortunately they will still be under two inches of sub-cuteneous fat. And most likely a one pack was not exactly your idea of attractive.</p>

<p>One thing I really must say at the outset of this article is,<br />
that if you were to ask the majority of men to define cellulite<br />
they would most probably be completely baffled. </p>
<p>Then after you explained it to them in detail and told them that<br />
you suffered from it, more likely than not the reaction would be<br />
to look at you as if you were slightly mad, shrug their<br />
shoulders and say that they had actually never noticed it. So<br />
one consolation I suppose, is that most men apparently just do<br />
not see it and do not know what all the fuss is about! </p>
<p>(They can be wonderful sometimes can&#8217;t they!)</p>
<p>From a womans point of view however, cellulite is at best<br />
something which restricts what she can or cannot wear, or at<br />
worst in extreme cases something which can be downright<br />
unsightly. If we are being brutally honest, dimples on our<br />
cheeks can be really cute, but dimples on our thighs and our<br />
buttocks most certainly are not. </p>
<p>It has been described as the dreaded &#8220;orange peel look&#8221;<br />
especially in relation to female thighs and buttocks. Many women<br />
can literally spend absolute fortunes to try and find ways to<br />
eliminate it.</p>
<p>Having established that it is a big problem (for the majority of<br />
women at least), I find myself coming back to the question in my<br />
title &#8211; Is it possible to be totally free of cellulite!</p>
<p>In truth I think sadly that as things stand at themoment<br />
probably not, but there are many many steps that can be taken to<br />
minimise the unsightly look of cellulite, and my intention in<br />
this article is to outline just a few of them.</p>
<p>It does really help if we try and understand some of the main<br />
causes of cellulite, and what if anything we can effectively do<br />
to both reduce the unsightly appearance (in our eyes at least),<br />
and even to try and banish it completely.</p>
<p>We should remember that the primary cause of cellulite is weight<br />
gain, and if a woman does gain excess weight the layers of fat<br />
under the skin expand, but sadly not in a smooth uniform way. We<br />
have the female hormone estrogen which promotes fat on the<br />
thighs and buttocks to thank for this. </p>
<p>When fat cells start to build up on the lower half of the female<br />
body, they are more likely to multiply and press against the<br />
skin. This process creates the bulged and dimpled look of the<br />
dreaded cellulite, and with very very few exceptions, it is<br />
completely a feminine problem. Another important factor is that<br />
as we age our skin also tends to lose its tautness, particularly<br />
so if we do not take any forms of regular exercise. </p>
<p>So having now determined the main causes of cellulite,let us<br />
look in some detail at some of the choices available to us to<br />
try and minimize the effects of it.</p>
<p>The first choice is that you can learn to live with it. </p>
<p>Yes, I do actually mean that! </p>
<p>At the end of the day it is not going to detract from you as a<br />
woman, and there is no reason whatsoever why you cannot still be<br />
very attractive. </p>
<p>Do not let it become an obsession under any circumstances!</p>
<p>The second and for me personally, the most important choice<br />
available is to make a seriously determined and long term effort<br />
to lose those unnecessary extra pounds. I strongly recommend a<br />
low fat diet as the first and vital step to take if you are to<br />
succeed in fighting this battle. </p>
<p>Make it a top priority to become much more active! </p>
<p>Simple changes such as walking more frequently, taking up a<br />
sport that you really could enjoy(perhaps something you did in<br />
the past), or alternatively taking the time to join a few<br />
exercise classes, are just some examples. Join those exercise<br />
classes which concentrate primarily on hips buttocks and thighs.<br />
This will greatly help in improving and toning up those areas<br />
affected by cellulite. </p>
<p>Your third choice is to try out some of the many creams that you<br />
can purchase. Use these with a deep massaging technique which<br />
will help improve the overall appearance of the cellulite areas. </p>
<p>The fourth and most drastic choice is liposuction which removes<br />
excess fat. Another such process is Endermologie, a mechanical<br />
massage that will smooth out the dimples. These methods can be<br />
really expensive, so you will have to be prepared to dig deep<br />
for them.</p>
<p>USEFUL QUICK FIX TIPS TO INSTANTLY DISGUISE CELLULITE</p>
<p>Fake Tan &#8211; Apply the fake tan normally, but just before you are<br />
going to show your legs, rub a layer of hair serum (yes the<br />
stuff you use to stop frizz), along your shinbone. This makes<br />
the thinner area of your shinbone much more prominent, and will<br />
therefore help to disguise those parts which are less firm in<br />
appearance.</p>
<p>Wear The Right Shoes &#8211; Heels or wedges will make your legs<br />
appear much longer, but beware of ankle straps and flat shoes.<br />
They really do make your legs look considerably shorter and<br />
fatter. </p>
<p>Take a tip from the celebrities. They wear heels with trousers<br />
and jeans, and have them made so that the trousers end about an<br />
inch below the ankle. The effect of this is to make their legs<br />
look really long and slim.</p>
<p>Draw The Eyes Upwards &#8211; If you are wearing your jeans on a night<br />
out for example, by either wearing a bulky necklace, a glittery<br />
scarf, or maybe even a Wonderbra and a V Necked top (if you are<br />
feeling slightly daring), you will distract attention away from<br />
your thighs. </p>
<p>Wear dark colors as they make your bottom parts look much<br />
slimmer.</p>
<p>Try out a Fast Fix Treatment &#8211; Treat yourself by going to a<br />
beauty salon, and indulge in one of their cellulite instant fix<br />
procedures. These can be very expensive but they really do make<br />
your thighs look smoother and sleeker. Unfortunately though,<br />
these procedures only last for a short length of time.</p>
<p>The majority of women would love to have thinner cellulite free<br />
thighs, but do please remember that it is your overall<br />
appearance which matters most. If you look and feel attractive<br />
in yourself that will be the way that others will also see you. </p>
<p>Remember that the aim here is for improvement not perfection.<br />
Cellulite has been a femimine curse (as women see it), since the<br />
beginning of time. As yet no one has come upwith either an<br />
instant or indeed permanent cure. However until they do, and one<br />
day somebody just might, stay focussed on your overall health,<br />
take serious and meaningful steps to lose weight, and maintain a<br />
good exercise program.</p>
<p>That way you can at the very least keep the whole thing in<br />
perspective, and in so doing, maintain your self confidence and<br />
self esteem at a much higher level than it would otherwise have<br />
been.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s freaky and somewhat sad to see a some of my friends fall apart. I&#8217;ve been watching many of the people in my life slowly age in the traditional way. It&#8217;s that ache in the back, knees &amp; shoulder talk I hear all of the time. </p>
<p>Fit and active kids, teens and young adults are turning into old men and women right before my eyes. Thin friends from high school and collage are now obese. Most of them are resolved to the idea that this is a normal pattern in life. They say it&#8217;s genetic or bad luck or some other environmental phenomenon. I have heard them say that it&#8217;s too late to turn nature&#8217;s events around. It was this way with their parents, so it&#8217;s inevitable that it will happen to them. They talk like 40 and beyond is the beginning of the end. </p>
<p>I can not tell you how crazy that sort of thinking is. </p>
<p>I&#8217;ve seen hundreds of stories of people in their 30&#8217;s, 40&#8217;s, 50s, 60s, 70&#8217;s and beyond turn nature on it&#8217;s head. My mom started snow skiing in her 50&#8217;s. Now close to 70, she still skis 3 or 4 days a week in January, Febuary and March. </p>
<p>What happens to our hope and optimism as we get older? Are we letting life beat us down to the point where we think all the fun stops at 30? Is youth left for the young? The answer is NO! </p>
<p>Can you turn it around after 40? Hell YES! </p>
<p>The first step is believing it can happen. The &#8220;This is what happens when you get older.&#8221; talk has got to stop. It has to be replaced with something, anything that gets you to make better choices every day. Turning an old ground in thought pattern around isn&#8217;t easy. I&#8217;ve got friends &amp; family I can&#8217;t seem to help. There needs to be a tipping point (something extraordinary) that shifts the balance. Maybe it&#8217;s a mentor, book or heart attack. Something that says life can get better through better choices. </p>
<p>You&#8217;re only good at the things you do often. </p>
<p>If you&#8217;re telling yourself often enough that life after 40 is full of aches, pains and suffering from one aliment or another then it will be true. If you wake up every day committed to do something that demolishes those incorrect negative thoughts then you will create a happy, healthy, youthful life, no matter what age you are. </p>

<p>If you are looking to burn fat and build muscle strength, then you need a combination of cardio exercises and weight training to make it happen. For people that are limited in free time, this may seam overwhelming to accomplish on a regular basis. However, here are some exercise tips to help you save time.</p>
<p>Take up walking or jogging. These exercises save you time because you need the least amount of equipment to get started. All you need is a pair of running shoes and warm clothes. </p>
<p>While jogging is optimal for fat loss, walking is the perfect exercise to start with. It gets your blood flowing and helps you burn fat. Walking is a great starter exercise because it is low impact and likely to extend or injure yourself. However, walking should not be the &#8220;end all&#8221; for your exercise regimen.  You need to be working your way up to running. </p>
<p>Since walking is such a low impact exercise you may not be exerting yourself as you need to. So, make sure you set goals and build up to jogging or running. You&#8217;ll have less injury and you&#8217;ll build your endurance with this approach. You will be surprised what you&#8217;ll be able to do in a few weeks. </p>
<p>Also, you don&#8217;t have to spend a long time with cardio. What you have to remember is: the faster you move, the more intense the session is. So 20 minutes of combining walking and running will benefit you greatly and be effective. </p>
<p>The next step is to add a strength training routine. The best way to have an effective routine that saves you time is to have a home gym equipped with a bench and dumbbells. </p>
<p>Dumbbells are a great way to increase muscle tone because they allow you to perform many exercises that tax your muscles at many different angles.  Dumbbells are effective for both men and women because you can have many different weight variations. </p>
<p>Exercising at home saves you time because you can workout at your convenience. You will need to schedule your workouts at a time that&#8217;s best for you and commit to it. You can get a good work out with dumbbells within 20 minutes to a half an hour. </p>
<p>The best approach is to build up to a fast paced workout with minimal rest. This way you are provided a challenge. However be careful not to exceed your capabilities so you minimize soreness and chance of injury.</p>

<p>There are literally thousands of websites purporting to have the &#8220;real&#8221; answer to life&#8217;s biggest question: how does one lose weight? While some of these websites offer at least partially decent advice (eat tofu instead of bread or something to that effect) some are quite dangerous (slash 2,000 calories off your daily intake and exercise for 4 hours a day).</p>
<p>While all of these websites aim to support anyone who would like to lose weight, some natural, common-sense strategies are probably the best way to start your own exciting journey to losing those unwanted kilograms.</p>
<p><b>The strategies</b></p>
<p><b>1.</b> The 80/20 rule should always be followed. For those of you who are not aware of what the 80/20 rule is, it simply means that you should watch what you eat at no more than 80% of the time. The remaining 20% should be devoted to indulging yourself and making yourself feel less deprived of the things you want to eat.</p>
<p>The 80/20 rule came about when both men and women started complaining that dieting and exercising made them feel deprived. This is the reason why more than 90% of all first-time dieting attempts fail. People just feel so deprived that they quit the first week and relapse to their old eating habits.</p>
<p><b>2.</b> <i>&#8220;Lifestyle walking&#8221;</i> is a wonderful way to start your journey to real fitness. Walking is simple, fun and easy. You don&#8217;t have to sacrifice much time, you don&#8217;t need special get-ups (all you need is a comfortable pair of old rubber shoes) and you&#8217;re all set to walk.</p>
<p>Also, walking doesn&#8217;t require a special venue for you to be able to carry out the exercise. You choose: you can walk around your house, around your street, or from point to point in a small highway. Quantity counts for lifestyle walking- walk at least 30 minutes a day, and make sure that it&#8217;s brisk walking, so you would really sweat it out.</p>
<p><b>3.</b> Meditation and other relaxation techniques have been proven to increase focus, energy and the general enthusiasm for life. Here you can choose any of the Western or Eastern methods for quieting the mind. With the exception of mind-altering chemicals, you can either meditate for 15 minutes a day, or you can simply listen to good, classical music while looking a nice, well-lit fireplace.</p>
<p>The point of meditation is to clear your mind, thereby effectively releasing you of pent-up stress. Pent-up stress, which can push you to overeat or to relapse to eating past &#8220;comfort foods&#8221; like chocolate and sugary cookies. This should be eliminated as often as possible.</p>
<p><b>4.</b> Believe it or not, being well-hydrated is also part of a weight-loss regimen. Eight glasses a day, as a minimum would make you feel fuller <i>(with all the water you drank)</i> and at the same time, your stamina would increase as well.</p>
<p><b>5.</b> Set a chain of small goals to accomplish. If you think you can&#8217;t handle a goal like <I>&#8220;eat carrots for dinner&#8221;</I>, then settle for smaller, more easily accomplished goals like <I>&#8220;avoid eating chocolate tonight&#8221;</I>. Doing this makes the task of losing weight easier, and more manageable.</p>
